Although we have already visited several zoos in Australia, it was not a question for Mike to visit this one as well. The 'Australia Zoo' near the town of Beerwah is the zoo, was and is the zoo of the famous Steve Irwin.Today, a childhood dream has come true for Mike. He always used to say that he wants to visit this zoo someday. Who would have thought back then that he would actually be in Australia and visit this zoo?The zoo is very animal-friendly, all animals have plenty of space and there are about 12,000 different animals to see. The highlight here is the crocodile show, where a person stands without protection in front of a crocodile and feeds it with meat. It was quite fascinating!Otherwise, there was plenty to see, koalas, kangaroos, wombats, elephants, tigers, giraffes.. the whole program. We also visited the animal hospital right next door, where injured or simply injured animals found on the road are cared for and nursed back to health. A koala even had surgery here and had a temporary arm brace.We had a really exciting day and although the zoo is relatively expensive, a visit is definitely worth it!
