Day 22: Kekuli Bay Provincial Park

પ્રકાશિત: 25.07.2022

Today we can sleep in and take our time, but with kids it's not that easy, we're up at the usual half past seven and leaving shortly after 9 o'clock. Our destination is the Okanagan Valley in the south of British Columbia. The further south we go, the more the landscape changes again. The mountains flatten out, more lakes and houses pass by. We briefly stop at Walmart to buy a small suitcase; we want to take our new grill to Germany. Then we see a fire brigade operation. There's a fire nearby and the fire is quickly extinguished. By noon, we reach our campsite and after a snack, we pack our things to go swimming in Kalamalka Lake. We relax all afternoon sitting in our camping chairs by the water. We watch the other visitors engage in their leisure activities. Many use small and large boats, inflatable tubes, or stand-up paddleboards. It's hot and we're enjoying ourselves. Erik is in the water almost the whole 3 hours. Then we walk back to the car and see marmots. In the evening, little field mice visit us right by the fire pit. It's fascinating how many different animals we see on our trip.
Fortunately, the mosquitoes are not bothering us so much today and we sit outside without worries.
