Door 7 - Job Time in Sydney

પ્રકાશિત: 07.12.2019

After Jessi said goodbye to Sydney, everyday life gradually returned. I was at a different brewery every day asking for jobs. Unfortunately, I was too honest and told them that I didn't plan to stay in the city for longer than 2 months. That was unfortunately too short for them to seriously consider me, so I had no choice but to turn to Protech again. Fortunately, that was quickly taken care of. I didn't even have to take the drug test again. Just quickly confirm my new address and the remaining data and I was in the system... and waited, and waited, annoyed Josh, my assigned mediator, waited, annoyed, waited... and then one morning, three weeks later, I finally received confirmation for a job at a construction site 20 minutes away by bike, north of the Harbour Bridge. The complex was called Sub Base Platypus and they were building a shopping/office center with some cafes and restaurants in an old industrial hall where there used to be a submarine base. The company in charge was called Haslin and the people, especially Tony the boss, were super nice. An Irishman named Kenneth also started with me, who also came through Protech and had been living in Australia for 3 years. There isn't much more to tell, except that it was incredibly fun to work for the people there. Not only because of the great pay and despite the 55-hour week, but above all because of the varied work, the great people on the construction site, and the trust that was placed in us as simple assistants. I worked there for a good 1.5 months, which fortunately allowed me to finally pay off my debts for the car and everything else to Clara and even save a good amount of money. Unfortunately, Clara had less luck during that time. The restaurant she worked at, Boronia Kitchen, kept reducing her hours and to avoid just sitting around doing nothing, she started delivering for Uber again. To be honest, this time was not the easiest for both of us. I finally had a good job with relatively little effort and she only had crap even though she worked her ass off. Anyone who knows Clara knows that she likes to keep busy and hates being idle. Fortunately, Maddy was there again during this difficult time, who got along great with Clara and supported her as a good friend. And so, the two of them decided to take a road trip to Brisbane (where Maddy's flight was) because Maddy had to go back to Germany for family reasons and Clara needed a bit of a change of scenery.
