An unspectacular day

પ્રકાશિત: 19.08.2020

The sun decided that 2 days of good weather in a row is enough for now and withdrew yesterday evening. It rained all night and the wind got stronger. Yesterday we had wind of less than 20km/h during the day, but at night it blew up to 48km/h! Accordingly, the night was not quite as relaxing, but Herbert bravely held the fort.

The morning started with drizzle, which lasted almost the whole day. Our route led us to Lorient, where there is an old submarine harbor. The huge concrete buildings with walls and ceilings several meters thick are quite impressive! There is a model of a submarine on the site, but you can only visit it - as well as the harbor bunkers - with a guided tour. However, these tours are only offered in French, of which we don't understand much. So we walked around the harbor, which today houses various boat dealers and refurbishers, and then continued on. We somehow didn't take any photos, we noticed later...

We arrived in Belz after 198 km. A small, charming campsite on the Étel River with very clean sanitary facilities. There are finally toilet seats on every bowl (up until now we always had to sit on the bare ceramic) and a bottle of disinfectant is chained to the toilet with an iron chain.

The manager of the campsite was excited to meet people from Dresden, because 'thirty years ago, when I was a student, I was also in Dresden'. For dinner, we had chosen a restaurant where we wanted to eat mussels. But since it is the only restaurant in the immediate vicinity and with a view of the lake, we were unfortunately turned away. Everything was fully booked. Well, too bad. So we inspected the sights of the place: the 'Maison de Nichtarguér'. It is a single (obviously uninhabited) house on its own little island. There are a few small boats around it, but apart from that, there is nothing else to see here.

For dinner, we had a potato-sausage-vegetable-egg skillet, cooked on the home stove. Now we're winding down the day, we're all a bit tired today. We probably won't stay up very late...
