After recovering from our jetlag and the more or less sleepless night from the flight, we rented a tuk-tuk for the first day to visit the outer temples of Angkor. After the tour, we went to the city center for lunch. Because we didn't agree with the overpriced tuk-tuk prices and they wouldn't negotiate, we walked back to the hotel. For the sunset, we drove about 20 km outside of Siem Reap to a temple on a mountain, where we had a great view of rice fields and the Tonlé Sap Lake.
On the next day, we decided to use bicycles to visit Angkor Wat. After about 30 minutes, we reached the temple. The size of the temple complex was very fascinating. Then we continued to Bayon, a temple with 216 faces. Finally, we visited the "Thomb Raider" temple Ta Prohm. The temple is located in a forest and overgrown by trees.
Since a sunrise at Angkor Wat is almost a must, we started at 5 a.m. When we arrived at the temple, we realized, as expected, that we were not the only ones. So many people crowded at Silvan's preferred photo spot that we looked for another suitable place. There was no reflection here, but a lot fewer people.
Today we continued, with the minivan, to the 4000 Islands in Laos, where we arrived after a 9-hour journey.
