Early in the morning, a shuttle bus picks us up from the hotel. We are already on our way to the city center at 8:20 a.m. After picking up other participants, we arrive at the cooking school around 9:00 a.m. The chef introduces herself as Chiau and asks us to choose 5 dishes that we would like to cook. The decision is not easy for me, but once everyone has decided, we head to the in-house herb garden. After the various herbs have been explained to us, we set off to the market to get fresh ingredients. After shopping, we finally start preparing the first dish. Cooking in a group is fun. There are always mishaps that Chiau has to fix. I am often the unwilling volunteer and, for example, prepare the spring roll filling and grind the chili. At the end, I am more than full from all the dishes.
As a small farewell gift, everyone receives a small cookbook.
We take a stroll through the city. The destination is the highly praised city park of Chiang Mai. On the way, I treat myself to a delicious but bitter Thai coffee. In the park, I take the opportunity to get a little exercise and play basketball and foot tennis with the locals. Afterwards, we go to the Green Bamboo Massage and treat ourselves to a traditional Thai massage, which I quickly realized is not as relaxing as I thought ^^.
After a firm massage, we leave the spa. After a little negotiation, a tuk-tuk driver takes us back to the hotel for 120 barths. It has been an eventful day.
