94. Puerto Plata (Dominican Republic)

In the morning at 5 o'clock the journey continues - first by foot to the bus station and then by bus to Puerto Plata.

We live a few kilometers before Puerto Plata at Playa Dorada.

We chose the place Puerto Plata because on February 6, 1998, Falco had a fatal car accident here between the towns of Puerto Plata and Villa Montellano.

As huge Falco fans, we know all the documentaries about the accident and it was clear that if we were ever in the Dominican Republic, we had to visit this place!

The former 'Tourist Disco', where he sat in the car for many hours before colliding with the bus, no longer exists - now there is a gas station here.

For us it was a moving and emotional excursion. RIP Falco 🖤

Of course, we also enjoy our last days by the sea...

Unfortunately, it seems to be just as dangerous here on the beach as it is in Panama. When we want to walk along the beach to Falco's accident site, we are stopped by a security guard as the deserted stretch of beach begins. We are warned about bandits and are not allowed to go any further!
