A Saturday in Split

उजवाडाक आयलां: 09.04.2022

Split not only impresses with its beautiful harbor, where cruise ships regularly dock, but also with its well-preserved old town. For example, the most famous attraction and at the same time UNESCO World Heritage Site is the Diocletian's Palace. The fortress-like complex is located in the old town of Split and was built by the Roman Emperor Diocletian. There are about 200 buildings within the palace, including the Cathedral of St. Domnius, the Peristyle, and the basement rooms of the palace. It's like a whole city within the palace.

The Peristyle is the central square of Diocletian's Palace and also the most beautiful place in the old town of Split.

We strolled through the picturesque narrow streets with many cafes and shops, and in the end, we visited the Green Market. However, the market time was almost over, and it looked more like a battle for food than a sales market.

We could conveniently take the bus from the campsite to Split and, of course, back again.

If you visit Split, you should plan at least a day, unless there is a cruise ship there. Because then the old town reaches its capacity limit.
