I was on the motorcycle for ten weeks and two days and was able to travel to countries that were previously unknown to me. Hildegard used 500 liters of petrol, a brake lever, a rear tire and an exhaust for the 15,150 km. We got to know each other better and are now a close-knit team. I am very happy with my Honda CB500X.
A few incidents to remember: in Iceland, Hildegard lay on her side and bent the foot brake lever, in Hirtshals the exhaust was stolen, in Bergen she got the exhaust from a donor, in Narvik the luggage and this new exhaust are together came close, so that a bag had to be removed and from then on she was allowed to ride at the top. In Poland, Hildegard dropped her luggage while driving through curves and potholes... These were our shared highlights in terms of bankruptcies, bad luck and breakdowns.I rarely drive with high beam, so reaching for the switch is a bit unusual. When it was necessary for the first time to ensure visibility with high beam in the long, dark tunnels in Iceland, it was accompanied by a self-made horn concert until I found the right switch 😂
The way motorcyclists greet each other is something I really like. Even though you are alone on the plane, you still meet and recognize enough like-minded people.Funnily enough, I often had the looks of the young girls with me until, yes, until I took off the helmet and the woman appeared 🤣
Any journey you take alone can turn into a pilgrimage. At least that's how it is for me. During the ten weeks I let a lot of old skins and scales go. A special place for this was on the Curonian Spit. Appropriately, I saw a collection of grass snakes in the forest. I've gotten a lot closer to myself and that's pretty much the best thing that can happen to you ❣️
Have a good time - and maybe try it yourself.
PS: Liquorice ice cream was the culinary highlight of the trip through Scandinavia 😋
