Art and Design in Aalborg

There are a few simple things that have once again drawn us to Denmark: the vast open countryside, the high sky with the white cloud towers, where the tireless skylarks still soar far and wide. And of course the sea, the sound of the waves and the seemingly endless sandy beaches. But equally interesting here is the high-quality offering of art, design and architecture. For this, Aalborg, where we set up camp or parked our caravan at the city campsite on Friday, is an optimal starting point.

On Saturday, a visit to Kunsten, the Museum of Modern Art Aalborg, was on the agenda. Yesterday Sunday, a walk along the new quay was scheduled, followed by a stroll through the cozy old town (so that this term appears again...), combined with a visit to the Utzon Center for Design and Architecture. Jørn Utzon was the Danish architect who designed the world-famous Sydney Opera House. The Utzon Center has made it its mission to convey excellent Danish architecture and craftsmanship to visitors. The many offers that allow children to playfully explore the subject are interesting. So the Utzon Center is not an institution for specialists, but a place where families can spend time and have exciting experiences.

But Aalborg is also the Scandinavian metropolis of street art: Around 80 works by internationally renowned street artists can be visited in Aalborg.

Tomorrow we will go on a trip from here to Aarhus, where we want to visit the ARoS Art Museum and the Dokk1.

The weather is now very changeable, with a lot of, sometimes strong wind, rain showers alternating with sunny periods, clouds racing across the sky...
