The second day in Tofino is dawning and unfortunately the weather is not much better than yesterday. But somehow that seems to be part of this area. We had a great night's sleep in the large, cozy bed. After the delicious breakfast provided by Tracy, we set off. The whale-watching tour is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. today, but we still have some time.
First, we head to the nearest park administration to purchase the national park pass. Because we are here in Pacific Rim National Park. For $135, we can stay in any national park for the next three weeks. Normally, the pass is valid for a year, but that doesn't help us much in this case. With the pass in hand, we head towards Schooners Cove. A local resident we randomly met during a walk recommended this trail to us the day before.
Upon arriving at the trail, we were greeted by a sign indicating that we were in 'Wolf country'. Really comforting! The trail takes us through the rainforest. Since it had rained before and the forest was still wet, everything looked especially authentic. Interestingly, the entire trail was built with wood, so we didn't have to walk in the mud as we initially expected. But it seems that everything in Canada is wonderfully built.
We enjoyed the tranquility and the special magic of the rainforest. After a good half an hour, the trail led us to our destination: Long Beach.
