Niagara Falls in the middle of the Indian Ocean - or at least its namesake. Of course I have to see it up close!

I still had university until 10:00 in the morning and then got on the bus right from there with my laptop. In fact, I used a "Car Jaune" for the first time today, a kind of long-distance bus. However, the journey wasn't that long (as well, the island isn't big enough for it :D), and so I arrived in Sainte Suzanne after about 40 minutes.

From there it was actually a half-hour walk to the waterfall, but I tried my luck and stretched out my thumb. And sure enough, a nice man immediately stopped and drove me straight to the falls. I think hitchhiking is actually one of the best modes of transportation here, even my guidebook recommends it. In order to be able to do this on my own in the near future, I'll probably buy a knife and pepper spray at the next Carrefour :D

So now I suddenly stood in front of this waterfall and it was incredibly beautiful! The waterfall is actually quite large (25 meters drop!) and ends in a lovely little lake which is great for swimming. In the rainy season, this sight is even more stunning, when truly amazing masses of water come down the rock.

If you turn around your own axis, then you see the beautiful "jungle", which takes your breath away with its green everywhere.

I quickly met other Erasmus students at the pool and we spent the day together - lying in the sun, swimming, complaining about getting sunburned, but not putting on sunscreen... Just the usual.

Around 4:00 p.m. we made our way back and this time we actually walked. We walked through a sugar cane plantation, which was pretty exciting.

And we also saw a gecko :)

In the evening I just marveled at my sunburn and sat down to my university things - a successful day.
