#44 Lake Taupo

Finally, some kayaking in the sun. We enjoyed the 10 km waterway to the Māori carving as well as our little hike to the Taranaki falls in the Tongariro National Park. Unfortunately, we couldn't do the famous Tongariro crossing because the trail is already covered in snow which makes route-findung difficult. This can be dangerous in an environment with quick weather changes which is why people have already died on that track.
