Day 8: Kuranda

This morning we wake up early and spontaneously decide to take a tour to Kuranda. The weather is perfect: sunny and a cool breeze. We book the tickets for the Skyrail (gondola to Kuranda) and the Kuranda Scenic Rail (nostalgic train) at the reception and off we go towards the Skyrail Rainforest Cableway Terminal.

It takes about 25 minutes by car from the resort. We are already expected at the entrance and we immediately hop into the next gondola. We take advantage of the two stops to get closer to the rainforest.

In Kuranda, we stroll through the village, buy some souvenirs, and visit Birdworld. Samuel is thrilled with the colorful birds, and Maxima is in a good mood too.

At 3:30 pm, we take the nostalgic train back to the Freshwater Station. A 10-minute photo stop is made at the Barron Falls. The train ride takes about 90 minutes and we are all a little tired. The shuttle service takes us back from Freshwater to our car.

We don't want to cook anymore and decide to take a pizza with us on the way. Conclusion: that was a mistake - the kids are tired and it takes 40 minutes to get the takeaway pizza (even though there are hardly any people), the pizzas are small and cost 16 euros.
