Tuesday, October 26, 2021 - Day 2
The breakfast at Hotel Aramis is excellent, very friendly service and good music start the day off well. Culture and shopping should determine the rhythm of the next few days.
So let's start right away with the Saint-Germain-des-Prés Church. Unassuming from the outside (the building dates back to the 11th century), but a true treasure inside.
Since 2009, many, especially state-owned, museums and monuments are free for visitors from the EU up to and including 25 years old. So off to the art museum Musée d'Orsay, which opened in 1986 and is housed in the former Gare d'Orsay station, opened for the 1900 World Exhibition in Paris.
After eventually finding ourselves in the extensive museum, we have a sweet snack in a bistro and then it's time to go: Subdued, Brandy Melville, Zara and bring all the treasures to the hotel.
We take Metro Line 12 directly from the hotel to Montmartre and with the modern inclined elevator (Funiculaire de Montmartre) up to the Sacré-Coeur Basilica, this ride is also included in the weekly Metro ticket. From up here, you have a magnificent view of the huge city of Paris all the way to the Eiffel Tower.
Then the descent into the sin district with candy shops, peep shows, and the Moulin Rouge. A fitting meal at McD and finally home after 18,000 steps.
