Nord Brazil: Fortaleza

Oñemoherakuãva: 27.03.2017

Fortaleza is a city with about 2.5 million inhabitants that benefits greatly from tourism. The most famous beach here is Iracema, like Copacabana and Ipanema in Rio, an endless long sandy beach.

But now it's rainy season here. That's why the beaches are largely deserted. When it rains, it pours in incredible amounts, creating small lakes in the streets. However, the sun also comes out again for a short time.

We chose this city as a short stopover on the way to Prea and that turned out to be sufficient for us.

Cultural center

The beach promenade, which is rather unspectacular during the day, comes alive in the evening with a beach market where art, clothing, souvenirs, and all kinds of food are offered.

Apart from that, the streets at night are not very inviting and give a certain uneasiness.

So we limited our walks to daylight for the few days and were actually quite happy to finally arrive in Prea.

So we continued by bus to this wonderfully quiet beach resort where friends of ours live temporarily and operate a pousada.
