Here we were for the first 5 days after our arrival in Australia. To recover from the long flight, we wanted to arrive here calmly. And it was a hit: a nice room in a private B&B, nice host, very chic apartment with a fabulous view right on the beach, the pictures speak for themselves. And on top of that, it was not so remote, you could take the bus to Perth City in just half an hour.
Furthermore, we had a first impression here of Australian life, as you would imagine it: beach and sea within walking distance, you go surfing before work (actually there were already surfers in the water at 8 a.m.), you enjoy the view of the sea and of course you like to party with a lot of beer. There were also a few opportunities for that on the promenade in Scarborough. And what immediately stood out: the friendliness and calmness of the people. For example, (1) you want to buy a ticket from the bus driver, but he can't change. 'Go to the shop over there, they can change, I can wait another minute'. Or in the pub, on the first night I ordered 2 beers, it cost 23 dollars (that's about 16 euros :-0). I was a little surprised by the price, I had just put a 20 euro note on the counter. Then I frantically searched for small change, had a few coins, but all cents... I didn't even know what the dollar coins looked like. Then I had about 2 dollars, he said 'That's ok. First day here? Where are you from?' Ah from Berlin... then we had a nice 10-minute small talk with the bartender...
Imagine these situations in Berlin as a tourist ;-) )
