Booked the Mekong Delta tour for the day (if you're here, you should definitely check it out). Hoping it wouldn't be too touristy.
So woke up early and rented a motorbike. I really underestimated the rush hour in Saigon, it took forever. I arrived 15 minutes late but luckily the bus hadn't left yet.
Tour in short: long drive, then a large boat ride across the Mekong to Island 1 where we learned about bees and honey. Then to Island 2, where we learned about coconuts and sweets, and listened to traditional music. Changed to a medium-sized boat and sailed through waterways past palm forests. Changed to a small boat powered by hand and sailed through small side channels (many floating rats). Had lunch (rather so-so) at a place with many animals, then returned with the boats. On the (long) way back, we stopped at a pagoda with really huge Buddha statues. The guide was quite entertaining.
Although planned, I didn't have any classes that day. In the evening, I sat at the kitchen table with Maria, Tina, and a girl from the Philippines and we chatted for a long time.
I think I'll come back again and do the trip from Hanoi to Saigon, maybe for 3-4 weeks. The last few days have been a bit exhausting, so I want to take it easy for a while, well, let's see if that works. After 14 days in dorms, I actually booked my own room for the next day.
