It wasn't easy to decide on a holiday destination in summer 2020, as Corona disrupted our short vacation plans to the Mecklenburg Lake District as early as April, so we didn't book anything firmly.
Spontaneously, we rented a motorhome again from a small motorhome rental in Berlin https://arni-womo.com/. The owner is very friendly and his motorhomes, although a bit older, left a clean and technically good impression on us, so we decided on the ROTEC. In terms of the price of the motorhome, we couldn't find a motorhome at any other rental company or rental portal that was comparably inexpensive.
After a thorough study of holiday destinations that are least affected by Corona, we decided on Croatia.
We had a few days to prepare for our vacation and pack all the necessary things for our family of four (children: 5 years, 15 years, my wife and I). I myself have already been on the road with a motorhome a few times, so I knew what you need and what you don't.
Friday: 10.07.2020: Finally, it starts
The route was planned, the first overnight stop was supposed to be the Irschenberg rest area on the A8. The journey was good, mostly with good weather, but the radar image showed extreme storm-like rainfall in front of Munich.
About 100 km before Munich, one of the numerous thunderclouds caught up with us, it was hardly possible to drive. Aquaplaning danger, so we slowly made progress at 60 km/h on the motorway. It felt like the end of the world, but at least our motorhome from arni-womo.com was tested for water tightness right from the start. The ROTEC passed this test with flying colors.
Just before Munich, the rain stopped, so we took a short break.
