Yesterday it was finally time to go outside again! Not only Triene had butterflies in her stomach 😄
After many stormy days (including rain in the night and early morning), we could hardly believe it when the strong wind disappeared in the afternoon. And we were even luckier, because the sun decided to show up.
So we started the Smart and took a long trip along the coast towards Santander. The route led us from one beautiful bay to the next, and even in the inland there was a magnificent panorama with the (partially snow-covered) mountains. Maybe it was due to the weather of the last few days, but the sea had a strong surf, which made it even more attractive.
We arrived in Santander in the late afternoon and we were surprised how amazing the city is! We liked it a lot, even more than Bilbao, and it's one of the most beautiful cities we have seen in the last months!
We especially liked the diversity of the city. Many different bays, beaches, viewpoints, parks, and also a great city center (including a car-free zone, which was hardly present in Bilbao), which invites you to stroll around. And the coolest 👍 is that the city center is located on a hill, and in some places you even have to climb up the hill (no, that alone is not cool =;O) but now comes the cool part, they have escalators for pedestrians next to the sidewalks, so they don't have to climb so much. We have never seen anything like this before. And not only in the upscale part of the city, but also in places that didn't look quite as fancy.
There was a lot going on everywhere. It looked like a Sunday afternoon when everyone goes for a walk or does sports. Probably everyone wanted to go out after the muddy weather of the last days!
A really beautiful day 😁
Today it's much cloudier and a cool wind is back, but at least it's dry. In the morning we explored the western side of our current location.
We have also put together a selection of photos for you (I really tried to reduce it, but there was just so much to see 😉)
As always, warm regards to all of you!
