I finally arrived in Auckland, New Zealand. Due to the time difference I spent one complete day in an airplane. The seat belt signs were on over 99% of the flight time and you can imagine how bumpy the flight was. As a consequence, there was no way for me to sleep and time went by slowly for the first time of my trip. Probably the most interesting thing that happened on the flight was me, losing my second hiking boot. After 10 min of unsuccessful searching I had to ask a stewardess for help. End of the story: I left the airplane with two shoes on my feet.
The first two nights I stayed in a hostel in Auckland and met my travel buddy, Marama. She is from Germany and travelled alone through Asia during the last 5 months.
After two eventful days in Auckland, now the two of us are the owners of a campervan. The car is quite old and none of us has lots of experience with cars. Hopefully we won't get too many problems with it... From the inside it is really nice. It has two windows in the ceiling and it came with a lot of camping gear. Driving on the left side works better for me than expected, especially since it is an automatic car ;)
Our first road trip led us to a beautiful and lonely beach one hour away from Auckland, called Pahi beach. Have a look at my photos. :)
