Getting up was a bit difficult today, as we haven't slept much the past two nights, so we gladly linger a bit longer. While Marco takes a jogging round to the beach, Yves explores the streets around the new accommodation. The sign 'No Outlet' has nothing to do with a clothing store, but means dead end, but in some places there is also a sign 'Dead End'.
After breakfast, we go on an exploration tour to Miami Beach and Ocean Drive. At the beach, we see some small propeller planes in the sky advertising for the parties in the evening.
Ocean Drive is a parallel street to the beach and is closed off under heavy police presence for tonight. Yes, the police have a different status in the USA than in Switzerland and like to drive with blue/red lights and sirens through the city, after all, every police officer has their own car. In addition to police cars, there are also many restaurants in this street, all of which are getting ready for the evening. Along the way, we discover at least 10 beach fields where people are playing actively, maybe we will come back with the beach volleyball later.
A large fireworks display is being prepared on the beach, we note this for the evening.
Back at the accommodation, we treat ourselves to a typical Swiss raclette once again before we go back to the beach after 10 p.m. Ocean Drive is quite crowded and you have to fight your way through. Therefore, we go to the beach and secure a good spot for the fireworks. At exactly 12:00 a.m., the first fireworks explode and a good twenty-minute fireworks display follows. Although a lot is being fired into the air, we don't find it as good as in Lucerne.
After the fireworks, we take another walk along Ocean Drive and then return to the accommodation, after all, we have an important appointment tomorrow.
