Fun wet pleasure

Oñemoherakuãva: 14.07.2018

At 9:30 am the guide was ready, recommended and organized by Liz (Gypsea Yoga). For 175,000 IDR per person, our driver took both of us, Dania, Bob (you remember Bob, the glasses master?), and a couple from Denmark, Ann Kathrin and Allen, to Tiu Kelep and Sendang Gila, two waterfalls in North Lombok. After a two-hour sardine-like ride with dead legs for Allen (the man is 2 meters tall), we arrived at a vomit-covered parking lot and the walk could begin. We had a childlike drawn map from Liz, which showed only one way. So why a map? (We didn't understand that until the end, especially since our driver was also the guide on the one way)

Along and through the jungle (of course, we didn't have any mosquito repellent with us - hello, malaria), the stone path led up and down steps, and after an incredible 10 minutes, we arrived (as if in hiking shoes, but where was the hike). We looked at the waterfall, cuddled with a red kitten, and ta-da... that was not THE waterfall. 64 steps back up the mountain, we turned left (that was not indicated on the magic map). We did not know that the path would lead us through the outflow of the waterfall. Liz had simply forgotten to mention it, but in this heat, even sports and hiking shoes that you use to cross rivers with the help of local children (who did not receive any money, they were simply helpful) dry surprisingly quickly.

At the big waterfall Sendang Gila, there were heaven and people everywhere. Especially eager people took a bath in the very cold water, others posed for photos. If the sun had made it through the clouds, there would certainly have been a rainbow. The waterfall itself was impressive and very refreshing, the spray caused a veil to rain down in the surroundings.

The 515 steps up (not counting the downward directions) were decisive, Ann Kathrin and Allen accompanied us back to Yoga House for lunch. Here I had the best food of the Indonesia trip, a juicy lentil burger. After a game of "Scheißkopf" (unfortunately, the rules only became clear in fragments during the game), Liz - the highlight of the day - drove us home in her 40-year-old T1.

At first, we were delighted, but when the first steep hill came and we stopped in the middle of the hill (with only a short stretch of road and a cliff behind us), Dania screamed bloody murder. Liz had everything under control and managed to safely drop us off in her hippie-mobile.

Tomorrow is the last full day of vacation, we are inconsolable 😢!
