Koalas in Care and Sand surfing 🏄

PORT MACQUARIE

Okay, admittedly... An adventure was definitely not waiting for us in Port Macquarie, but rather really bad weather and endless running routes... Definitely not recommended for those planning to travel the East Coast 🤷🏼‍♀️.

The highlight was therefore really the only 'Koala Hospital' in Australia where sick and injured koalas are cared for and, if possible, released back into the wild.

And for those who can no longer survive in the wild due to severe injuries, the hospital provides a little paradise as a new home, as well as plenty of eucalyptus.

We spent our second day, and luckily our last, mostly at the hostel, waiting for the bus that will take us to Newcastle at 5:30pm.

NEWCASTLE

We arrived here at 9pm, checked into our Airbnb, had a little dinner, and then went to bed, because the next day started early. Off to Anna Bay for sandboarding.

When you arrive there, you could easily mistake the 23km long and 1.5 km wide sand dunes, which stretch along Australia's East Coast, for the Sahara if you stand in the middle and can only see sand 😂. Well, almost...

And then it started. Going down the dunes on a snowboard-like board. What fun. But also quite a lot of effort, I must say. Because in this case, you get the fun first and then comes the work, when you have to walk back up the hill through the sand after sliding down.

Accordingly, the fun of the whole thing also quickly fades, and after about 1.5 hours, we made our way back to Newcastle.

😂 That was much steeper than it looks here, believe me! 🙏🏼

Since we arrived here at 9pm but unfortunately can only leave Newcastle at 9pm today, we have to spend 5 hours at Maccas 😂

But in 2 hours, we will finally continue to the last stop of my East Coast journey.

🔜 SYDNEY 😍🎉

To be continued... Xo
