Dubrovnik 🇭🇷 / Kotor 🇲🇪

Dubrovnik, the time before.

Let's go. Finally on vacation! For now, my fresh spontaneous tattoo, or rather the spontaneous vacation, is making me annoyed because the sun and water are not really advisable. But oh well. Resigned to that, the diagnosis of a broken rib comes, I lose it.

So I've been thinking back and forth about whether we should go or not. In the end, we decide to go. Emotionally, definitely the better option. So we fly from Hannover to Dubrovnik, kindly driven by Team Muzi, noteworthy only in that I have my first major 'fall asleep and drool all over myself' performance. So we've got that out of the way. And of course, thank you very much for the drive! :)

Enough of the introduction, when we arrive in Dubrovnik, we are welcomed by Ivica. We booked an Airbnb with him, extremely clean and nice apartment, right by the sea, just in Sustjepan and not directly in Dubrovnik, which is not a problem. So let's start by sleeping and the next day, logically, we go to the old town and to the castle, which is also known as Kings Landing 😎. Since the weather is pretty lousy, the city is pleasantly empty and gradually fills up with greedy tourists. Time to escape! Thanks to TripAdvisor, we find a small bay and a corresponding restaurant that should be much cheaper than the others we have seen so far. Cheaper, yes, cheap, not at all. Anyway, after eating, we take a nap and spend the evening in our little village next door at a world-class restaurant, with wine, cevapcici, etc.

Currently we are on our way to Montenegro, we don't know how far we will get or where we will sleep. But we are optimistic. As expected, Dubrovnik is incredibly beautiful. But also incredibly crowded! So I would recommend it for 1-2 days, but not for more... It's probably even more awesome if you've seen Game of Thrones, but on the other hand, that's obviously being milked like crazy.

The general plan is to go towards Montenegro/Kotor. The bus we want to take is of course fully booked, as it always is when you show up 10 minutes before departure.

So we take an Uber taxi to the border, because our taxi driver Tomislav doesn't have an ID with him, there's no other choice but to cross the border on foot. Or hitchhike, to be more precise, from Nowhereland to the border of Montenegro. Altin gives us a lift, an Albanian Italian, there's definitely a language barrier. But still funny. We drive in his CLK all the way to Tivat airport, including a short ferry ride, and from there to Kotor by taxi.

We didn't know that they also accept Euros here, so we give the gentleman 70 Kuna (10€) instead of the demanded '15', because we thought it would definitely be worth less. And he would still make a good deal anyway. So 1:0 for the tourists.

Arriving in Kotor, we check out the hostels, everything's full here, but in one of them we are allowed to use the Wi-Fi and the common room, so we start looking for an Airbnb, and we find one, and to welcome us, there's cake! In the middle of the small old town of Kotor, we have found something. Tomorrow we will explore.
