We won't go into that night today. Please don't judge us for not showering for two days, but we just couldn't bring ourselves to shower in the bathroom. This morning, however, it was time. It wasn't quite as bad as expected, but something else was pleasant. With time on our hands, we went looking for breakfast and ended up in a restaurant that offered a breakfast buffet. We thought there would definitely be something for us and decided to go for it. The yield was meager and disappointing. There were already ants running around on the plate for the pancake cutlery. Maybe that was why they were so dry and tasteless. Regardless, we somehow got full, bought some water and waited at the hotel for the pick-up service.
The driver took us to the port where we could check in. We still had 20 minutes left. Our boat was scheduled to leave at 1 p.m. We happened to be well in line at the pier, but at some point no more people were allowed on the boat due to overcrowding. Cool. It's not like we don't have a schedule and need to get our connecting bus. The next boat was supposed to arrive at 2 p.m. We were told that the bus will be waiting for us. Can we believe that? We met 2 like-minded people who suggested we buy a beer first to bridge the waiting time. Of course we were there straight away. Because if there's one thing we've learned on this trip, it's that you just have to take some situations with humor.
Equipped with cool Chang, we got into a conversation with two friendly Viennese people. They told us that they fly from Ko Tao to Bangkok for little money and don't travel 10 hours by bus like we did. We briefly envied her plans. We had a good chat with them and discussed our future travel plans. The two brothers got off in Ko Tao after our ferry ride together.
“Wow, does the toilet stink?!” - “I don’t know, maybe someone pooped their pants”
Chumphon's harbor area is really nice to look at. We got there 2 hours later than planned, but there was actually a bus for us, was that really the one that was intended for us? We never become aware of it. In any case, we have a lot of legroom again! Ronja provided us with very tasty sandwiches, perhaps she should always take care of our food for long journeys in the future.
We arrived in Bangkok at about half past two, went to Khaosan Road and, after putting our luggage away, went for a walk around the bars. We were at the airport at 5, it was time to fly. During passport control, Ronja's passport lost some sand when it was scanned. She was briefly suspected of illegal drug use. The inspector also had to laugh when she asked us which beach the sand came from. Security check and boarding went smoothly. It's funny to be a little tipsy at the airport. Now we're sitting on the plane, it's just before 7 and we're looking forward to Vietnam. New country, new chapter. We agree that it's not a bad thing that this upheaval is happening.
See you later
