Sardinia Day 7 - Off to Alghero

Oñemoherakuãva: 01.06.2023

After breakfast, it was time to pack our bags and load the buses, because today we headed north to Alghero, which is 170 km away.

During the approximately two and a half hour drive, we made a quick sightseeing stop and visited the Nuraghe Santu Antine. This monument dates back to the Bronze Age (15th century BC) and can be considered the pinnacle of Nuragic architecture. The main tower was originally over 25 m high, of which about 17.55 m are still preserved. This makes the tower one of the tallest in Sardinia. There are over 7000 Nuraghe structures on the island, but their function has not been fully clarified to this day. The buildings are made of basalt stone and have withstood wind and weather for millennia. Excavations have revealed Roman-era settlement remains around the bastion.

For the next four nights, we will be staying in bungalows at the "Laguna Blu" campsite. We are responsible for our own meals and have stocked up on enough groceries at the supermarket. After our arrival in the afternoon, we had the rest of the day free and were able to spend it individually, for example, playing card games, swimming in the sea, or relaxing together. In the evening, a small photo contest, to see who cooked the best dinner, was a must :)
