Caprivi and the yellow bench

Reawakening an old experience, spending the night in a tent by the river in Africa again after almost 30 years, with a second night to come. Sleeping in a tent in the African wilderness is definitely a special experience.

The whole night you have the feeling that the hippos are constantly running around the tent and making noises, and in the morning hours lions also appeared, at least judging by the noises.

The night was very short, partly because it got very cold in the tent very quickly... ok, that's just how it is 😩

On the way, yesterday we saw a similar picture to the last two days, with small settlements along the side of the road and lots of people on the move with water, wood, and children going to school.

While driving through the Caprivi Strip we saw a herd of elephants crossing the road in front of us… crazy.

In the evening there was a water safari on the program, we were able to observe crocodiles and a group of 13-14 hippos.

On the safari we met a couple from Switzerland who are visiting Namibia for the sixth time and are still completely fascinated by the country. We sat around the fire and chatted until almost midnight... as we are usually in bed by 8pm, and it gets dark by 6pm, it was a very, very short night.

There is another safari planned for this afternoon.

Tomorrow we continue to Botswana where we drop off our car.
