Addendum to yesterday, in the evening a jackal stood in front of our accommodation, at the latest by then the balance of power was put into perspective.
Today we got up very early, the safari towards Sossusvlei started at 6.00, after an hour's drive we reached the NP and at 7.30 we were granted entry.
The journey began through a fascinating landscape consisting of sand and huge sand dunes that you can/may/should climb. Big Daddy is the highest dune in the world at up to 380 meters.
At the feet of Crazy Dune, as Big Daddy is also called, lies Deadvlei, a depression with camel thorn trees that dried up almost 1000 years ago.
Wow…
Unfortunately, the pictures only show a fraction…
On the way back we went to the Sesriem Canyon, the second largest canyon in Namibia.
Tip: the guided tour was good, I think you would see the same thing, apart from a few pieces of information, if you did it individually.
The Namib Desert Lodge where we are staying can be recommended without hesitation.
The lodge where we spent the first night was much smaller and more family-run but, or perhaps precisely because of that, highly recommended without any ifs or buts.
Tomorrow we continue towards the Atlantic coast
