Hello again,
Our time in Australia is slowly coming to an end and Milli has already left us last week, so we thought it's time to publish another little diary entry.
After our amazing time in Noosa, our next stop was Fraser Island. We were a bit worried that our 'Granny' wouldn't survive the wild ride on the beach of Fraser, but in the end she did pretty well, overcame every obstacle, and only got stuck in the sand once.
After this adventurous drive, we continued with a few stops to Airlie Beach, where our skydive and sailing tour to the Whitsundays were waiting for us. We all survived the skydive without any injuries, except Dennis felt a bit sick when he landed ;)
The next day, we spent two days on the 'Mandrake', sailing through the Whitsundays. We also celebrated Dennis' birthday there, although he spent most of the time leaning over the railing, as he got a bit seasick.
The Whitsundays are beautiful islands and especially Whitehaven Beach in the morning was breathtakingly beautiful, but you can see the pictures :)
When our sailing trip was over, we were even allowed to spend one more night at our captain's place.
From Airlie Beach, we continued to Townsville, from where we took the ferry to Magnetic Island. There, we were able to see mini kangaroos (wallabies) and wild koalas. We also coincidentally ran into Cedric and Paulo at a secluded beach on Magnetic Island, with whom we had already done the Whitsundays sailing tour. From there, the five of us continued the rest of the journey to Cairns.
The next few days, we mainly spent in national parks and at various stunning waterfalls.
After our arrival in Cairns, we reached the last stop of Milli's journey. In Cairns, we all did a snorkeling tour to the Great Barrier Reef. It was beautiful, but sadly, you could clearly see that the reef is already dying.
Then came the farewell from Milli and we continued our journey with Cedric towards Cape Tribulation, Daintree Rainforest, and Cooktown, where we spent a few days in the rainforest. We even saw crocodiles and snakes 🐍🐊
Now we're back in Cairns and a bit stuck here because we're trying to sell the car, so that we can fly back to Brisbane and then drive to Byron Bay, where we want to relax on the beach for another week and improve our surfing skills.
The next entry will probably be from Bali...
Until then,
Lisi and Eugen
