We then went to visit the legendary Taj Mahal.
We traveled from Jabalpur to Agra by night train. The first class of the train we took was very good. One can sleep well and has a private compartment.
Upon arriving in Agra, we checked into the hotel and then went for breakfast, where I could finally eat eggs again.
In Agra, we were driven around by my grandmother's driver. You just had to call, and he came to pick you up.
Then we headed to the Taj Mahal. The road to the Taj Mahal was lined with many hotels, restaurants, and shops. There were a lot of foreign tourists there.
The entrance to the Taj Mahal was very crowded, but as a foreign tourist, there was a separate line, which was still full. The price for foreigners is 1100 Rupees (12€) and for Indians, it is 50 Rupees (0.53€). There are always such large price differences at tourist attractions.
In the Taj Mahal complex, you first see the entrance gate.
Through the entrance gate, one then catches sight of the tomb made of marble. A king built it for his third deceased wife. In the Taj Mahal complex, everything is symmetrical, except for the tombs of the king and queen inside the Taj Mahal.
A tour guide, who could take better photos than provide information, led us around. The Taj Mahal is truly a very beautiful building, but it does not have a very significant history.
After we had looked at the Taj Mahal, we headed to the second major attraction in Agra, the Agra Fort.
The Agra Fort was the seat of government of the Muslim king. From the Agra Fort, he could look at the Taj Mahal.
The Agra Fort is very large and designed for living and governing. There are many rooms, courtyards, and small gardens that make the Agra Fort a true gem.
There is so much to discover in the Agra Fort and one can feel the noble way of life.
The Agra Fort has a Muslim architectural style with some Indian elements. Its architecture reminds me of the style from Azerbaijan.
In the evening, we went out for dinner in the area in front of the hotel.
The next day we then went to Delhi.
