From the Loire to Aubigny sur Nère, Day 11

Friday, July 28, 2023, Day 11, pouring rain, we don't feel like cycling. So we leave the bikes in the dry garage, go to the town, visit the Chateau, take a walk and spend the rest of the morning in a café with espresso, water and a good book. The rain radar says that it will stop raining at 2:00 pm. We can't believe it because it's so gray and rainy that we think it should stay that way all day. But the rain radar was right. We started at 2:20 pm and didn't have a single drop of rain for the entire afternoon. Since we only had half a day, we significantly shortened our tour today. About 30 km, which still tired us out because we still had heavy legs from yesterday and because we didn't really feel like it because of the weather. Nevertheless, the 30 km brought us forward well, we had a very nice route, and arrived in Aubigny late in the afternoon, a small town with everything you could wish for: many cafés, many restaurants, many brasseries, even an Aldi. So after the Aldi shopping, we had a very nice, cold draft beer again before we went to our accommodation. Disaster, old country house, and although the host is a friendly old man, it is unbearable. Dirty, rundown, unhygienic, smelly. We will somehow survive the night and sit on the bikes again tomorrow morning and continue, if necessary without a shower.
