Our trip to Morocco went smoothly with a direct flight from Zurich to Marrakech. After we collected our luggage at the 16°C warm airport in Marrakech, we tried unsuccessfully to withdraw Moroccan Dirhams from the ATM. After a short puzzle, Fredy remembered that we didn't have our credit cards activated for foreign use. So we had to rely on our 'emergency cash' in Euros. We were able to exchange Euros for Moroccan Dirhams easily at a currency exchange office. Then we took a taxi and walked to our accommodation - 'Palace des Princesse', because the old town is too narrow to be accessible by cars. The nimble motorcycles, on the other hand, can maneuver through the narrowest and busiest streets.
In our beautiful accommodation in the old town of Marrakech, we were able to activate our credit cards right away using the Wi-Fi. The next attempt to withdraw money worked immediately - thankfully!
Now we have already explored a first part of the old town of Marrakech and enjoyed mint tea high above the market.
