Tag 111: When packing in the hostel, I realize that my down jacket is missing. I am absolutely sure that it was in the room and I never had it anywhere else with me and it is not in the hostel or on the entire premises. After the trail, it would have been useless anyway, but it is extremely annoying because I probably would have needed it and now I have to consider replacing it on the trail. Now we're taking the bus to Sisters. There we go to a diner for breakfast, which is really good and easily ranks in the top 5 breakfasts. After that, we are picked up by Devilfish, a trail angel, who takes us and two other hikers, Crush and Lumos, to Olallie Lake. The trip takes about three hours and I chat a lot with Lumos and Devilfish. When I tell them about my 24-hour challenge, they are quite impressed, which is actually a very nice feeling, I have to admit. Olallie Lake is just beyond the fire closure. This way we skip a total of about 65 miles of the trail, of which about 20 are closed. I hope that the closure will be lifted in August and I can come back and close the complete gap. If not, I will at least catch up on everything that is open. [Image: ]
