Day 4: Nenzing - Pfunds

Note: Pictures again in wrong order, seems like not everything is going smoothly.

Hello everyone,

Greetings once again from beautiful Austria, and today from Tyrol!
I wished for dumplings and tree cake, and I actually got that for dinner. Well, almost. More details below. But until then, it was a long and rocky road! So, let's start from the beginning.

After some minor difficulties at the start, where I could roam again but this time I didn't have reception. Great! I expected more from Marcel Davis from 1&1 or whatever his name is.
Well, back to the old routine with Google Maps.
There weren't many options to get to Tyrol anyway.

So off we go. After the first 25 km, another cyclist actually helped me get through the first 300 meters of altitude. Unfortunately, only with his presence, but that was enough.
The next 1000 meters of altitude were completely on my own, quite literally. Except for a few motorcyclists, it was very empty. So, perfect conditions to die alone!
The uphill was actually fine up to the peak at 1800m, as it was steep all the way.
Only the gravel roads drove me to despair.
I should have read the travel guidebooks 'Gravel is bad' and 'Stone is mean'...

After I could almost see God's toes, I descended almost 40 km to the crossroads of the earth & pause. Reaching a top speed of almost 68 km/h at times. I had to take breaks sometimes because of the high pressure, so my eardrums wouldn't burst (luxury problem).

After the speed rush, the last part to Pfunds was partly the final boss, as there were unplanned construction sites and sometimes absurd detours. They were 90% better than the road, but the altitude and my legs were not grateful.

In the evening, finally delicious food at the restaurant.
Now, all that's missing is Kaiserschmarrn and tree cake. Unfortunately, there was a German-Austrian misunderstanding here. So, there was only chocolate cake. But it was also delicious!
Probably, 'tree' means chocolate in Austrian. I'll have to google that soon.

Well, from tomorrow onwards, it's Italy and pasta until I drop.
The altitude predicts a third mountain stage with 2500-3000 meters of altitude, just like today.
The only advantage of getting up tomorrow is that it goes downhill more 👇🗻 + breakfast.

PS: Check the weather forecast before you visit the restaurant. Thanks to friendly neighbors with whom I share my balcony, I was fortunate at times. You can see the rest of the shame in the pictures.

Best regards,
Florian from Tyrol
