What a difference. In the morning, we wake up and can jump directly into shorts. The temperature rises to over 30 degrees during the day, which feels pleasant in the wind.
Our accommodation is perfectly located on the beach, so we only have a few meters to walk to the beach. The sand is super soft and the sea is cool but pleasant. Due to the strong currents, the water is quite murky.
The beach here seems like a paradise for kite surfers. From every corner, you can see people gliding over the waves and flying in the air. Despite that, it's not very touristy and we feel really comfortable here. That's why we also go to a beach bar for lunch on these two days, which also has a lot of local specialties. And the food! Soooooo good! The rice is cooked in coconut water and of course, we also have the traditional fried banana. Finally, we can also have fish here on the coast. Our "waiter" runs along half the beach to bring us the "best fish" for our meal, something like that wouldn't happen in our country - and not just because of the lack of a beach.
In the evening, we usually spend time in the old town of Cartagena. It's much more touristy and therefore a bit more open (compared to Medellín). There are beautiful buildings with colorful walls and lovely balconies. You can really shop until you drop, even better than the last time in Rome. We're glad we have a backpack for traveling so we can easily pass by the shops - even though it's a little heartbreaking ;-).
Until today, we had planned to continue our journey by bus to Santa Marta, but we spontaneously decided to continue our trip to San Andres because it seems to be really beautiful there. So let's be surprised...
