The five reconstructed columns of the Temple of Apollo are a popular destination and photo spot for visitors to Side. It was built in the 2nd century BC and dedicated to the god of light, Apollo. Next to it was a larger structure, the Temple of Athena. Evening is the best time to visit, as you have the chance to admire the sunset behind the temple. At night, the temple looks especially picturesque with illuminated light.
Side is a resort town on the southern Mediterranean coast of Turkey and also an ancient port city known for its long beaches and Greek-Roman ruins. In the center, you can find the remains of a 2nd-century theater with up to 15,000 seats. The white marble columns of the Hellenistic Apollo Temple are located near the harbor. In the surrounding area, there are other archaeological sites, and the Side Museum, a restored Roman bathhouse, exhibits numerous artifacts.
