Getting in and out of trouble, going back in times, meeting great American people

Oñemoherakuãva: 12.06.2018

As said I am behind schedule so cover miles was on the agenda. As usual it takes me some time to get started. Luckily Dave cooked great breakfast and good coffee so I was settled up greatly. A good bye Pic which I send already and off I went. CO west to Utha_WY 120miles no service at all _ since I turned south at one point it was just 100. Getting through WY was wind pure and not better in southeast Idaho too. Stopped south of Pocatello and bought a map to look out for a campground. American falls sounded good. I got on I 15 drove around scout mtn turned on  I 84. There it was a big black wall of clouds coming my way. Another 20mls to go.! Got off I 84 looked for camp _ no overnight stays there. 😐 So needed something else and it got darker and darker. Massacre rock sp was my rescue. Drove down the road got from potato fields in nowhere. Did like 15 miles again on the Noth rim of snake River. No park there. So must be on other side of the river hopefully. Raced back the 15 miles over the river back on 84 going south rim side now. Black wall still coming closer. Had to turn the gas valve on reserve at one point. Fighting the wind all day needed quite some extra gas. Made it to Massare sp actually and build up my tent in record time in the upcoming storm and just jumped in and slept.

Next morning packed again to get into the mountains and ride off. After like 7mls it came back to my mind that I ran on reserve! Shoot. Knowing that like 18mls make the was no gas station, I decided to go west. Slowly to save gas but the wind was more like a storm and it came from the opposite direction. 16mls before Rupert/Delco, my pony went dry.

So what? Tried to park it and damned myself for being so unprepared...

The wind was that bad I could not leave the KLR. Waved at cars and trucks... 10 minutes later, a couple on their way to WA stopped! We talked... They said they will help me. Gave them 20 for a gallon in a canister. These great people went 16mls further got me gas, came back, and waved when passing on the opposite side and showed up. Wow! These people did a 50mls detour and spent an hour to rescue me! Wow!

Released, I got to fill up at Delco and rode on through the storm and into the mountains. Pine _ feather vile area. So awesome.

Filled up at pine and got some supplies at store Nitz and met Vicky and Rick there, who advised me greatly on a campground. And to ride up to Rocky bar if I have time.

Took it easy the next day, hang out in the hot springs next to camp. Then followed Vicky's advice and rode up to Rocky Bar, which was a 2,500 people gold mining city in 1880. Now Gail and Steve are keeping this American heritage up and maintaining it for future generations. So great!

Today I went back to my now favorite coffee and muffin place at Pine😀. Nitz met Kris Vicky's daughter and got great advice on a hike I did this afternoon. Green creek trail. Fun nobody seen for 4 hours. Hiking here is different from the NP where people are everywhere. Here you can easily get lost.

Will take another big ride into central/Northern Oregon tomorrow. Not without saying goodbye at Nitz, so Kris, Vicky, Rick, and Rich the camp host. All of them were so helpful.
