Today, we enjoy breakfast in the sunshine almost alone at our camping spot. Before leaving, we visit the beach once more and then head north to Borgholm. We visit a castle that was built in the 12th century and played a central role in various wars between the Swedes and the Danes. In the 17th century, King Charles X Gustav converted the castle into a Baroque building and used it as his residence.
After a fire in the 19th century, only ruins remain today. However, these ruins serve as a backdrop for videos and concerts for numerous (not only Swedish) artists. For example, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yCC_b5WHLX0
The kids are somewhat excited, so we decide to drive north and head to a campground in Oskershamn. We are pleasantly surprised by the great facility located on a peninsula, and we even find a decent spot under the trees.
