Day 2: Valley of Fire State Park
We actually only want to get up at 7:30, but because of the time change we are awake again at 5:30. So we use the time to wash our things. Then we leave the hotel and take a taxi to Roadbear, our camper rental company. We had the choice of arriving early on our own or taking a shuttle in the afternoon. We are happy to invest the taxi costs to get the camper earlier. The handover takes place in German and is completed after about 2 hours. Now we head to Walmart to stock up on groceries for the next few days. Despite the shopping list and preparation, we still need 2 hours here. Then it's time to pack everything in the camper and then we leave Las Vegas. Our first destination is the Valley of Fire State Park and the campground. We are too late for the visitor center, but we still have a lot to do. All of our things have to be unpacked and stowed away. Fortunately there is electricity and we can run the air conditioning. With an outside temperature of over 40°C, this task is very strenuous, as the ventilation offers little cooling. In the evening we fire up the grill we brought with us. We have sausages, beef steaks and fresh corn on the cob. After sunset it is still a good 30°C and a warm wind is blowing. We end the evening outside.
