Episode 3: Tapas, Wine, and Sightseeing
Since we already miss Eva when leaving Zurich, she spontaneously flies to Madrid to spend a weekend with us in the big city. In addition to attractions such as Plaza Mayor, Mercado San Miguel, Retiro Park, and Almudena Cathedral, we mainly focus on enjoying tapas and wine together. We particularly like the La Latina district and the area around Mercado San Miguel.
Episode 4: Taking Detours to Solitude
After Madrid, we are looking forward to quieter places. However, we didn't want it to be as quiet and deserted as in Sierra de Guadarrama. The navigation system leads us along a mountain pass. At the top of the pass, we are supposed to take a gravel road down to the valley towards the intended campsite. However, the gravel road becomes increasingly adventurous and impassable for us. We have no choice but to turn around 8 kilometers before our destination, circumnavigate the entire mountain range, and approach the campsite from the other side.
After another 1.5 hours of driving, we finally reach the destination. However, it is deserted and the campsites are closed. We don't encounter anyone. After spending a night in a parking lot in the national park and taking a rainy walk through the beautiful, untouched pine forest, we decide to move on.
