The last day for this time Crete vacation

This night I could sleep very well. And accordingly I awoke only at 9:30. The Russian girls 'sneaked out' for an excursion at 7am in the morning. Eirini is still sleeping. But I have PACKING as a goal this morning. Whew. I was dwindling boozy...... I bought shrink bags (bags that can be vacuumed with a vacuum cleaner. This reduces the vloumen but very much. The weight is not a problem. Even if I bought weighty things. Because, I knew that I would not get along with the 23 kilos. So schwupps on the Edelweiss web page additional kilos booked. Now my suitcase could theoretically be up to 32 kilos. That relaxes me already times very. BUT, the problem was then in another place: The suitcase almost burst! And at the first attempt, the zipper burst..... No! But then I got everything in and as a security still with thick tape outside everything stuck. The hand luggage is also already full. But with light and fragile things. Some small things I will leave here (sunscreen, bug spray, Apres Soleil cream, etc.), put in a bag and label accordingly. So future people can easily help themselves.

'Spilia' had caught my eye while driving through a few days ago. And the distance wasn't that far either. The 'Village of Gardens' is supposed to be it. Hmmm. It didn't really catch my eye, but it's worth a stop. In the upper part of the village there is a mini-museum about the region of Spilia. Manolis immediately grabs each visitor and speaks to them in their native language: English, German, French, Italian. Wow! With a lot of heart he explains the memorabilia to the interested people and serves Raki at the end. Unfortunately I had to disappoint him, but he grabbed the two Austrians and so I could say goodbye. The tavern 'Maria' has turned me on spontaneously and the small hunger I could quickly satisfy.
Small stopover on the way home: the freshwater lake of 'Kournas': length 1100 m, width up to 880 m, maximum depth 22 m. So, for Swiss standards, a snug bathing pond. Smile. The parking lots are at this time (15 o'clock) already no big problem. So I was quickly directly at the lake. The big surprise: the few souvenir stores have signed up for the ceramics competition! Incredibly, thousands of pieces are waiting here for the buyer. No idea why just HERE everything is full of ceramic stuff....

Driving back to the hostel, the Cretan summer makes me another parting gift: 41.5 degree. And this not after I got into the parked car! But, on the way. Already earlier at the lake it was extremely hot and unfortunately only little wind....

Back in the hostel. Clean out the car, check again if everything is ready for tomorrow. Write report from yesterday. Gave chocolate to the receptionists (they were very happy) and then suddenly Eirini was standing there. Actually she had to leave the hostel in the morning. But apparently she found a bed and will stay here in the 12-bed room for a few more days. Since I knew that she had to go to the center (9 am she has her first screening), she took me right away. With her car. Wow, so for a Greek she drives extremely bad here on the streets. And she could only park with my guidance as a driving instructor. Smile

Afterwards I went to 'Alexia' and family to say goodbye. I will miss them. Again, Manolis wanted to give me more herbs to take with me. But, my two suitcases are bursting anyway. And yet, once again I received a gift. Not only the little prince will always remind me of the whole family.

I was then able to watch the performance of Eirini at 10 o'clock. The 10-minute performance with her doll 'Violetta' was quiet, fine, delicate and unfortunately not really noticed by the tourists. The children, on the other hand, let themselves go for a short time. Until the parents urged to move on. Special.

Now my last evening in Chania is coming to an end. Tomorrow at 6.45 AM I will already be picked up and then the journey back to the cold and wet Switzerland starts. Mixed feelings, as always.... on the one hand I would like to stay and on the other hand I am looking forward to my home and my loved ones. *wink
