Saturday

Who would have thought: at 10:00 a.m. it is already 32* on the thermometer! And we wanted to look for a background for another company.

So bite the bullet; Apply 50s sunscreen to all areas of skin that are exposed to the sun and, wearing a cap/sun hat, set off to the most beautiful "wallpaper" in the area.

Our first stop was the Faust town of Knittlingen. The FAUST MUSEUM had summer holidays; we knew that. But there is still more to discover in this place. So there is the STÖRRMÜHLE, which sells, among other things, unsprayed KRAICHGAU KORN. I got to know her at the State Horticultural Show in Eppingen. And because I've been baking our bread myself with OTTO (my sourdough starter) for a number of years, a tip like this is always valuable. The farm shop offers every type of flour in different degrees of grinding. Fantastic for hobby bakers. In addition, lots of tea and spices from the SONNENTOR company in Austria, baking mixes, honey from the region, eggs from free-range chickens and much more. There is also fresh bread on Saturdays. Luckily all the purchases fit into the bags we had brought with us.

Then on the way to Knittlingen Stadt - breakfast would also be a good idea. In search of a shaded parking space, we also drove through the old town with narrow streets and beautifully renovated houses. As soon as the Faust Museum is open again, we definitely want to come back. We then found REINDARDT'S ALTE FEUERWACHE right on the street with lots of tables and umbrellas and lots of people enjoying coffee and co. It really was once a fire station, by the way. Many photos also prove this in the bakery. She has the leftover bread/buns made into something full of GIN: LEIBWÄCHTER GIN from bread brandy. This is done by the HÄUSSER family from Zaberfeld.

We also decided to have a small breakfast outdoors. The employee freshly prepared my roll - and it was extremely tasty.

Our trip also took us to Hirsau to visit a friend. On the way we passed places whose names I had never heard before. I particularly liked IGELSLOCH - not so much the place, but the name.

Sunday

Very warm again early in the morning. Didn't help - the "wallpaper" should be found. Light shoes helped as well as said sunscreen and the cap against heat stroke - outside the car.

Today's destination is the HEITLINGER GOLF RESORT - world of enjoyment and hotel in Östringen. The name Heitlinger probably means something not only to wine lovers, but also to golfers. Many vineyards in the area are part of this and the respective variety is also indicated on hikes above the vines. We stopped here during a hike a few years ago. The golf course seems to stretch out over many hills and valleys. A beautiful area - not only for golfers and hikers. Our path led us a little further to the KREUZBERGSEE with the KREUZBERGHOF, which also belongs to the Heitlingen restaurants. Delicious food, great wines and other drinks, beautiful rooms for family celebrations and meetings.

Unfortunately, we couldn't stay here long because we still had an assignment. Then on to Schönborn. There is also a thermal bath with brine water. We are surprised by a very full parking lot. With the high temperatures, we would have expected our fellow human beings to be at the quarry pond or in the outdoor pool.

And finally we stopped at ONKEL OSKAR in Dettenheim. After a cake called HOLLÄNDER (very tasty and very nutritious), a soft ice cream sundae with fruit and coffee, our mission was now over. There were beautiful moments and again an area that was unknown to me/us.

See you soon
