Garden Show Saxony-Anhalt

It was really very quiet on the pitch; I was woken up by the birds in the tree above us. I immediately checked to see if I could see the sunrise: yes, the sun was shining through the leaves of the trees. It was only 5:30 a.m., so much too early to get up, make coffee and use the bathroom. Unfortunately, I couldn't fall asleep either. So I just lay there a little longer and breathe calmly so as not to unnecessarily wake up the love of my life. Later, after breakfast, I cleaned up, packed up, washed up, paid and set off.

Because of the persistent cough, we went to the supermarket to buy honey for it. Unfortunately, there was only one type from the region; better than nothing. The sat nav sent us about 20 kilometers along narrow country roads and through many small villages to Bad Dürrenberg to the State Garden Show. A few minutes' walk from the car park to the entrance. Several buses with (mostly) pensioners had just arrived. It took a correspondingly long time to buy the entrance tickets. But the crowds dispersed pretty quickly on the really large site.

Right at the beginning we admired the 636 meter long graduation tower, the longest in Germany. There were deck chairs and cushions with quotes from NOVALIS everywhere. Great idea!

The viewing platform over the SAALE was very busy - and not even as spectacular as expected. At least the new cycle path down on the banks of the Saale was clearly visible.

There were so many beautiful things to see that the flowers were almost irrelevant. I had never heard of a Stone Age shaman whose grave was discovered in 1934. The latest findings about her are only a few years old. An explanation was given in an unusually shaped tent. In it, state-of-the-art hologram technology tells the story of the shaman. This eight-minute performance is definitely worth it!

To finish, we had something tasty from the region: spiced meat, an alternative to Ragout fin. After a pretty good espresso, we went to the SCHHAUSIEDEREI: This lecture is also worth it - and of course the evaporated salt that can be bought in front of the pavilion. On the way to the exit, we stopped by the various flower and other vendors; unfortunately, we didn't find anything that we wanted to take with us.

So we strolled through the town, which unfortunately didn't have anything exciting to offer. Maybe we just didn't find the right places.

Our next destination on the trip to Leipzig was the town of MERSEBURG. Only about 20 kilometers away, but it was definitely worth it. This town not only has a castle with a huge "castle pavilion" in the park, but also a large cathedral. Everything is within walking distance of the train station or a free parking lot on Christianenstraße. If, like us, you can't really get used to the navigation on your cell phone, just ask someone on the street. Friendly people always gave information about quick routes. Near the castle we enjoyed two espressos and did some last-minute shopping. At the KLIA stream through the town we were quickly back at the RV and set off on the journey to Leipzig. Because of a construction site we had to look for alternative routes to the parking space. Everything worked out. We are looking forward to a relaxing night, as it is also very quiet here.
