Stiklestad and Trondheim

Publicado: 17.08.2022

The night was short as there was a lot of traffic and noise near our sleeping place.

So we quickly drove on towards Trondheim. The area here is predominantly agricultural and not particularly spectacular.

Farms, meadows, few fields and forests - and moose in broad daylight!

Right next to the busy road by Norwegian standards, a semi-grown moose was grazing with ease. Moose will look at the observing person for a few minutes before moving on leisurely. Great for photography!

After breakfast at a gas station, emptying the toilet and refilling water, our first destination was Stiklestad. In honor of Olav, an important Christian king, a church was built on the battlefield where he died in 1030.

Next to it, there was a nice open-air museum with a longhouse and other buildings from different periods of Norwegian history. Very beautiful.

From Stiklestad it was not far to Trondheim. We found a parking space at the harbor from where we quickly walked into the city.

There was a lot going on. Not because of tourists, but because of first-semester students who were getting to know each other and the city in a kind of scavenger hunt. It was fun to watch them do their tasks. The evening ended with wine and chatting, and we fell tired into bed.
