On January 3rd we traveled on to Siem Reap, Cambodia. We arrive at the travel agency on time and immediately head to the travel car. This is equipped with comfortable lounge chairs that offer enough legroom. We were hoping that the trip would be shorter than the 8 hours planned, but in the end we were only 400 kilometers from our destination. But at the Thai border it quickly, or rather SLOWLY, became clear that there is a reason why this route takes over 8 hours: a queue of hundreds of travelers is being served by only two customs officers. Luckily we had a good dose of patience because we were familiar with the lengthy border processes. The same procedure awaited again at the border with Cambodia.
When we finally arrived in Siem Reap, we visited a vegetarian restaurant and ordered 3 typical Khmer dishes. Unfortunately, the highlight of the day was followed by a nightmare. Our hotel room was contaminated with mold. This made Sonja feel very bad. Sleep was out of the question that night. As a result, Sonja was very tired the whole next day and still felt nauseous. Luckily Simon found new accommodation where we feel comfortable.
