After a little less than 2 hours by ferry we arrived in Bohol. Then took the tricycle to the bus terminal and set off 10 minutes later. It was quite narrow, but with a 1.5 hour drive it was quite entertaining. In Batuan (central Bohol) we were let out at the church and after 400 meters we were at our accommodation. At first everything seemed very small and... well... but we actually felt comfortable there and had a good time. The rental moped was ready immediately, so first we hunted for food and then to the Chocolate Hills, which are around the corner from us. Afterwards we briefly went to check out the situation in a national park, what tours were offered, fed monkeys with peanuts and then relaxed for the evening. The next morning we took the moped to the east of Bohol to get to the beach. After some searching, I found a very nice public beach.
After the long tour, we had the plan to go on a night safari in the national park. Should be there by 4 p.m. But it didn't start until 6 p.m. Well, sometimes things get weird here. We saw the endemic Philippine gliders. This is its own kind of flying squirrel or something. And saw a lot of insects in the forest at night that you wouldn't normally see. Giant centipedes, stick insects, huntsman spiders, flagellar spiders, a flagellar scorpion (never seen before), lots of crickets and stuff like that.
The next morning we went back to the Chocolate Hills at sunrise to experience the lighting atmosphere. Was fantastic. Otherwise, we spent the rest of the day exploring the island on the moped and then that was it for Bohol. Was nice.
Tomorrow we'll go via Cebu City to Malapascua. Get up at 3:20 a.m. Yay......
