After driving back on the Richardson Highway to Valdez, we reached the Glenn Highway. This took us two days to Anchorage. What I especially liked about this road is experiencing the incredible vastness of Alaska. You look ahead and see mountains that are over 100km away, and when you look back, you see mountains that are also over 100km away. It's like standing in Ulm and seeing from Stuttgart to Munich...
Just before we reached Anchorage, we visited a musk ox farm. Here, the fine hairs are combed out of the up to 700kg heavy animals once a week to produce wool. We were given a tour of the farm's pastureland and were able to see these enormous animals up close.
After arriving in Anchorage, we urgently needed to replenish our supplies. We also took care of my parents' visa extension at the airport and went shopping at a gigantic outdoor equipment store. We spent the last night in "civilization" on the parking lot before continuing to Seward the next morning.
