Paradise on earth

Publicado: 21.10.2023

October 1st, 2023 Sunday: Camping Tavolara

We have actually arrived in paradise. Turquoise water, white sandy beach and not a cloud in the sky.

We drank our first coffee on the beach with a sleeping Michel in the carrier. Our darling woke us up at 6:30 with his babbling, but we were both relatively rested and fit. I love being woken up by Michel. Of course I don't have a deep sleep and I sensed long before that he was becoming more restless. I was so grateful that he hadn't called it a night at 4:30.
After we had calmly set up everything else and cleaned up the mess from the previous evening, we set off for the beach with a thermos flask. After a relaxed 10-minute walk we arrived and, apart from a few early birds, we were the first and only guests. The bay is quite large by Sardinian standards, but still manageable. It takes about 15 minutes to walk it, there are a few beach bars and restaurants and loungers for rent. Shortly before starting the journey back, Michel was and his eyes widened when he saw the sea. But actually his eyes are always wide open, he can't help it. He has the most beautiful eyes I have ever seen. But that's also normal for a mother (and a father :D).

After a classic camper's breakfast with muesli and a cheese sandwich, which we always share, we headed back to the beach around 11:30. Child in the Thule, Thule full of towels, beach shelter and everything you need for yourself and your child.

As the day went on the beach became increasingly full, but at the weekend the beaches are also well visited by Italians and we expect it to be significantly quieter in the next few days.

Nevertheless, there was enough space for everyone and we set up our little camp.

We both went for a swim and Michel took his afternoon nap.
The water is so clear that I could watch small fish underneath me the whole time and see the grain of the sand underneath. A good orientation so that you don't swim all over the place in open water.

We treated ourselves to a cappuccino at one of the beach bars, which was, as expected, delicious. I think it's impossible to get bad coffee in Italy. And I was actually able to order a decaffeinated coffee again, which also tasted so much better than anything else I had tried and ordered before.

Not too late we made our way back, 3 of us still had to shower and prepare dinner. At 6 p.m. that was all done, including eating what had been cooked (raviolo with vegetables and pistachio pesto from Barilla) and we visited the beach for the third time that day. Michel had dinner on the beach and then it was time to cool down and go to bed for the little man. Unfortunately it took a while for him to fall asleep, but he was relaxed and told me about his day for a while.

Sven and I sit comfortably in front of the camper, read, write and listen to our Swabian neighbors talking incessantly about their motorcycles. So you almost feel like you're at home again - but luckily only almost 😉.

We have definitely arrived on holiday and the weather forecast, which we can rely on significantly more during this holiday, promises only the very best weather. We are already looking forward to the next Beach Day!
