On this day, we were with our professor for an investigation at Calabar School. Afterwards, we headed back towards UFBA, where the students were on strike and had occupied the UFBA parliament building. The reason for the strike is the proposed PEC 241 law, which not only introduces strong austerity measures for over 20 years, but also allows private investors to buy land in Brazil, which has been prevented for years. These austerity measures also include cuts in funding for education, meaning significantly less money for schools and universities, where there is already a shortage of funds.
For this reason, the students took action and barricaded the entire building, hanging up posters and setting up their camp there.
